Cope’s June 2021 Newsletter

Hi Cope Supporters!

I am sure you are all just as glad as I am that our community is beginning to bounce back and establish a "new normal." Families have just attended in-person graduations, businesses are ramping up for the Summer and it is nice to once again be able to see each other's smiling faces. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and while we are not there yet, I am glad we are getting closer to it everyday.

We have been celebrating at Cope this month with graduations happening in our Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Program and in our Triple P Parenting Classes! We're also excited to have a few new faces at Cope. Read about all of this below in our June Newsletter.

Twelve Families Graduate from our Home Visiting Program

Earlier this month we celebrated twelve families graduating from our Parents as Teachers Home Visiting Program. Because all of the children graduating are five years old or younger, we decided to do a socially distanced caravan again to ensure their health and safety. We stopped at each family’s home, dropping off a special basket of gifts and items to prepare each graduate for their first year of kindergarten. You can read more about how the PAT Home Visiting program teaches parents how to provide the best environment for their children, prepare them for school and build their resilience.

15 Parents Empowered through Parenting Classes This Session

We are glad that we have been able to continue our Triple P Parenting Classes virtually since the pandemic struck in 2020. Parents are able to get the guidance and support they are seeking to improve their relationships with their children and their parenting skills. Every class is a multi-week course that works with the parent to learn new parenting strategies and build upon their existing strengthens. They meet virtually each week to discuss specific topics and skills related to their parenting issues. It is a major accomplishment and we are so proud of the 15 parents who have graduated the month from our most recent session of the classes.
