letter from executive director michele grupe
Dear friends,
I have something I’d like to share with you about an important change for me and for Cope Family Center.
After 19 fulfilling years as part of the Cope family, I am stepping away from my role as Executive Director. The decision to leave after nearly two decades has not been an easy one. I am sad to be leaving this organization that I love so much, and to leave behind an incredible team of Cope staff, families, volunteers, donors, and partner agencies. Being a part of this Cope family has been such a joy and comfort, and I will miss this important work, but I am eager for the possibilities ahead, for both myself and for Cope as a whole.
I have thought about and planned this transition since I stepped into the role of Executive Director, because of my respect and love for the people who make it such a special place. I will begin to transition out of my role this summer and will stay on to support the team and guide the next Executive Director as they step into this role. I am excited for the future leaders of Cope and of our community, and grateful that I can provide the space and guidance to foster their growth.
I will cherish the many memories I made during my time here at Cope. I am so proud to have been part of the community coming together during times of hardship (earthquake, wildfires, pandemic, and more) to support the families devastated and displaced by crisis and disaster. I appreciate all the generosity and support you have given Napa Valley’s families through times of joy and abundance, and through times of difficulty and heartbreak. Thank you for all you have done for the community, for our families, and for Cope. You have helped shape the organization into what it is today: a warm, welcoming, and supportive space for the children and families who need us most. We couldn’t do it without you.
I am not sure where my journey will take me next, but I am sure of a few things. The Cope Board and team are exceptionally suited to take Cope into the future, continuing to provide extraordinary and necessary support to Napa County’s families and children. I will be a lifelong advocate for prevention work and supporting children and families to raise the next generation of neighbors, friends, employees, and co-workers.
Thank you again for being part of this journey, and for your love, compassion, and endless support of me and of Cope. I look forward to connecting with each of you during this transition. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all.
In community,
Michele
