Celebrating the Home Visiting Class of 2024
On June 14th, families and staff gathered at Cope to celebrate the Parents As Teachers (PAT) Home Visiting Class of 2024! This celebration was a fun way to recognize the dedication and hard work of the graduating class.
During their time in the program, families worked with their Family Support Specialists (FSS) to strengthen their parenting skills and create positive change for their families. In home visits, parents worked with their FSS to strengthen their relationships with their child, gain a better understanding of their child’s development, and build resilience as parents.
Visits included evidence-based screenings to evaluate key milestones in their child’s development. If any delays were identified, parents were referred to additional resources for extra support. Families were also referred to other community services as needed, such as medical care, mental health resources, financial assistance, and employment and career development services.
To help build social connections, PAT families also gathered monthly for family connection events, helping parents build a sense of community. In addition to fun activities like arts and crafts and pool days, parents had skill-building workshops on topics like goal setting and creating a family budget.
We are so proud of these families for their hard work and commitment. By strengthening their relationships with their children and building positive parenting skills, these parents are creating brighter futures for their families.
