Letter From The Program Director
Each year brings fresh opportunities for growth and innovation, and our Cope team—supported by our amazing community partners, donors, and volunteers—continues to rise to the occasion. For over fifty years, we’ve adapted to the evolving needs of Napa Valley families with creative, forward-thinking solutions, and the past year was no exception.
In 2023/2024, the expansion of our programs and the growth of our dedicated team allowed us to support over 150 more families than the previous year, bringing the total to almost 1,000 families served. Our diaper distribution saw an incredible 152% increase, and we provided three times more grocery gift cards to help meet families’ basic needs.
We’ve also seen a growing demand for parent education and home visiting services. With your support, we expanded our partnerships with schools, offering on-site parent education classes to make it easier for families to access these vital resources. The need for home visiting services remains high, with a waitlist that consistently hovers around 30 families. However, with the introduction of our Early Childhood Coordinator role last year, we ensured that families in urgent need received the guidance and care they required while waiting for more comprehensive services.
These are just a few of the ways we’ve strengthened our ability to support the children and families who come to us, even in challenging times. And we couldn’t have done it without you!
On a personal note, I’ve experienced incredible growth this past year as I transitioned into the role of Program Director. Over the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside Cope. I began as a Family Support Specialist, working directly with Napa’s families, then moved into the role of Home Visiting Program Manager, where I supported our team of FSSs through their own growth and challenges. Now, as Program Director, I’m excited to continue building on this foundation and advancing our mission in meaningful ways.
No matter what changes or challenges we may face, I’m confident that our Cope family will continue to stand strong, supporting Napa’s families and guiding our community toward a brighter, more hopeful future.
Thank you for your partnership in the important work of building a safer, healthier, and more equitable Napa Valley for all children and families.
With deep gratitude,
Maria Chavez
